2nd Quarterly Progress Report: November 2000 to January 2001

 

Between 01 November 2000 and 31 January 2001:

  • A full, multi-layered methodology was developed, which will be used in EBONI's core evaluations and applied to several satellite studies;
  • A document was prepared on the problem of defining ebooks;
  • Representative texts were chosen as the material for the core evaluations;
  • Resources were added to the Catalogue of Online Learning and Teaching Resources;
  • The project plan, including the dissemination and evaluation strategies, was approved by the Steering Committee and submitted to the DNER;
  • Hazel Woodward, Cranfield University Librarian and Director of Cranfield University Press, was appointed Chair of the Steering Committee;
  • Articles about the project were published in the LA Record and The Electronic Library, and were submitted to Online Information Review and the SCONUL Newsletter;
  • A leaflet outlining the aims and objectives of the project was created;
  • Monica attended the first DNER eBook Working Group meeting in London on 15 November 2000;
  • The Project Management Group met for the third time on 21 November 2000;
  • Monica and Ruth attended the DNER all-projects meeting in Manchester on 16-17 November 2000, a talk on HERON at Glasgow University on 7 December 2000, and met with Fiona Henderson (Research Fellow at the Robert Clark Centre for Technological Education, Glasgow University) on 31 January 2001, to discuss the relationships between our projects;
  • Caroline Ingram, DNER Programme Manager, Learning and Teaching, visited on 25 January 2001;
  • The Steering Committee will meet at 2pm on 6 February 2001, in Strathclyde Business School;
  • Monica and Ruth will attend DNER Project Management Training in London on 7 February 2001.
